Pertamina preps Sumatra plans

Pertamina will put together contingency plans for gas supplies to northern Sumatra should it miss the original June 2013 deadline originally set for the start up of the Arun liquefied natural gas conversion project.

The terminal is to start operations as an LNG receiving and regasification terminal in June 2013, rather than a LNG production and export facility as it currently is, Japan’s Tex Report reported.

The terminal is designed to have a total capacity of 320 million cubic feet (scf) per day, and Tex estimated future North Sumatran natural gas demand for electricity and industrial use to rise to 420 million cubic feet per day by 2018.
