Dockwise's Mighty Servant 3 sinks

By Upstream staff

Dutch outfit Dockwise's heavy transport vessel Mighty Servant 3 has sunk after offloading the drilling platform Aleutian Key to a location off Angola.

The Aleutian Key was not damaged in the accident and is on its way to its drilling location.

Doxkwise said the vessel started listing and then capsized.

None of the 21 crew on board the Mighty Servant 3 at the time were hurt in the incident and are currently being taken to Luanda. Dockwise said the crew of the Dutch flagged 27,720 dwt vessel - who are Dutch and Filipino - will be sent home as soon as possible.

Mighty Servant 3 is resting on the sea floor in about 62 metres of water, about two kilometres off the Angolan coast. Local authorities have been informed.

Dockwise said it did not know why the accident occurred, but an investigation is under way.
