The
number
of
oil
and
gas
rigs
drilling
in
the
US
rose
by
11
this
week
to
total
1979,
according
to
data
from
US
services
giant
Baker
Hughes.
Rigs
drilling
for
natural
gas
climbed
for
the
first
time
in
nearly
three
months,
adding
six
for
a
total
of
658.
That
is
still
233
fewer
than
a
year
ago,
as
drillers
pull
back
on
dry
gas
exploration
amid
decade-low
prices
for
the
fuel
brought
on
by
oversupply
and
unusually
low
demand
after
one
of
the
warmest
winters
on
record.
