Technip has won the FEED contract for the Petrocarabobo Upgrader heavy oil project in Venezuela.

The French services player said the deal with Petrocarabobo SA is a lump sum contract but did not disclose the value.

The Petrocarabobo Upgrader will be built in Faja del Orinoco and will be used to refine heavy oil extracted from the Orinoco belt. It will have a capacity of around 200,000 barrels per day.

The FEED contract is expected to be finished by the first half of 2014.
