Houston-based drilling contractor Atwood Oceanics saw profits surge in its fourth quarter ended as revenue jumped 77% to $81.8 million from $46.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2005.
Atwood reported net earnings of $23.2 million, or $0.74 per diluted share, in the quarter ended 30 September, compared to net earnings of $6.7 million, or $0.21 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of last year.
For the full year to 30 September, Atwood reported net earnings of $86.1 million, or $2.74 per diluted share, up from net earnings of $26 million, or $0.83 per diluted share, for the full year to 30 September 2005. Revenues rose to $276.6 million over the 2006 fiscal year from $176.2 million in fiscal 2005.
