PDC, Synergy spud Wattenberg well

Spinning the bit: PDC spuds Niobrara-Codell well

US independents Synergy Resources and PDC Energy have teamed up to drill a well targeting the liquid-rich Niobrara-Codell formation in the Wattenberg field.

Synergy, focussed on the Denver-Julesburg basin, said it owns a 28.75% working interest in the in the PDC-operated Leffler #24-1H.

The well was spud on 24 March with a 5068-foot lateral well bore on 320-acre spacing. The partners plan to use a 16-stage fracture stimulation in the completion stage.

The well is located in the Wattenberg field in the south-west of Section 1, Township 6 North, Range 66 West in Weld County, Colorado.

It is Synergy’s second horizontal well. The company previously partnered with Noble Energy in the WAKE E24-77HN well and said…
