Falcon Oil & Gas hires new CEO

New hire: Falcon Oil & Gas appoints Providence Resources finance boss as new chief executive

Canadian explorer Falcon Oil & Gas has snapped up Irishman Philip O’Quigley to become its new chief executive.

O’Quigley will leave his current post of finance director at Providence Resources but stay on as a non-executive director of the Irish explorer.

Providence Resources chief executive Tony O'Reilly said O’Quigley had been a key player in the Dublin and London-listed company’s development since 2008.

O'Quigley previously held finance directorship posts with extractive companies since the 1990s, including Houston's Texiana Oil & Gas, Ireland's Petroceltic and Glencar Mining.

Last month, Providence Resources yielded the first ever commercial flow rates from an Irish oil discovery at its Barryroe field off southern Ireland.
