Dominion to proceed on LNG export hub

LNG project: Dominion said it will proceed

Dominion Energy has decided to move ahead with a plan to export liquified natural gas at its Cove Point, Maryland facility, the company said Thursday.

Dominion said it had “fully subscribed” the terminal’s capacity to Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation and another firm it did not identify.

The proposed expansion would process up to 750 million cubic feet of US natural gas into 5 million tonnes per annum of LNG.

 “We are continuing to negotiate binding terminal service agreements with the parties and expect to complete them later this summer,” the company said in a statement.

Other customers said to be interested in the export capacity were Korea’s Kogas, Shell, BP and Statoil, Upstream previously reported.
