Appraisal: Neon has spudded the Paloma Deep-2 appraisal well

Australia-listed Neon Energy has spudded the Paloma Deep-2 appraisal well in California’s onshore San Joaquin basin.

The well is being drilled to a total depth of 13,600 in the Fruitvale formation to appraise hydrocarbon pay zones already proven in the Paloma Deep-1 well, and to acquire core samples in the target Lower Antelope, Lower Stevens and Fruitvale shale reservoirs.

The company also announced on Friday that it was preparing to drill the Paloma-3 well to test the shallower Tulare formation and potential gas zones in stratigraphic traps of the Mya and Etchegoin Formations.
