NWS Venture firms up Toho extension

By Upstream staff

Australia’s North West Shelf Venture has signed its first full extension contract with Japan’s Toho Gas for the supply of up to 760,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas from April 2009.

The ex-ship contract succeeds a binding heads of agreement that was signed in May this year.

NWS Australia president Peter Cleary said: “We are very pleased to continue our long-term business relationship and friendship with Toho Gas which now extends more than 17 years.

“By 2009, our total supply commitment to Toho will exceed 1 million tonnes a year, making the North West Shelf one of its principal LNG suppliers.”

The six equal partners in the Venture are operator Woodside, BHP Billiton, BP, Chevron, Shell, and Japan Australia LNG (MiMi). China´s CNOOC is also a member but does not have an interest in its infrastructure.
