Senex spuds Snatcher appraisal

Stretching out: Senex resumed appraisal activities at Snatcher earlier this month

Brisbane-based Senex Energy has commenced drilling the first of two appraisal wells on its Snatcher oilfield in South Australia.

Snatcher-4 will be drilled to a total depth of 1858 metres to assess the potential for oil production from the Jurassic Birkhead formation on the Cooper basin’s western flank.

Senex resumed appraisal activities earlier this month with the Snatcher-3 well being brought onto production.

Output from the field had been offline for more than two years following severe flooding in the region in January 2010.

The Snatcher oilfield lies within PEL 111 where Senex holds a 60% operated stake with joint venture partner Beach Energy holding the remaining 40% interest.
