Oil spill reports: Brazilian navy investigating reported stain near P-57, seen here in 2010

Brazil's oil regulator the ANP said on Thursday that it found no signs of an oil spill in a Petrobras offshore field after overflights with Brazil's Navy.

Ibama, the country's environmental protection agency, said earlier on Thursday that it was informed of a possible spill by Petrobras on Wednesday, Reuters reported.

Offshore oil workers returning home said there was an oil stain "about one kilometre long" on the ocean near the Jubarte field, local daily Folha de S. Paulo reported.

The stain was said to be close to Petrobras' P-57 floating production, storage and offloading vessel in the northern Campos Basin field.
