CNOOC will take new Exoma field interest

Permits: Exoma must negotiate native title agreements before taking up an Authority to Prospect.

China’s CNOOC will have a participating interest in four new release onshore acreages taken up by partner Exoma Energy in the Australian state of Queensland, the Australian company said.

Exoma told the Australian Securities Exchange today it had been named as the preferred tenderer for the acreages, covering 1.9 million hectares of land adjacent to its existing fields in the Galilee and Eromanga basins.

The company applied for the four permits – PRL2011-2-7, PRL2011-2-8, PRL2011-2-9 and PRL2011-2-12 – in the 2011 Queensland acreage release.

They are prospective for conventional oil, shale oil & gas and coal bed methane and are located to the east of Exoma’s five permits in the area, ATP 991, 996, 999, 1005 and 1008
