Rig moves for ConocoPhillips

ConocoPhillips and Australia’s New Standard Energy have started moving the MB Century Rig 14 to the Goldwyer prospect in Western Australia’s Canning basin after it was cleared from customs.

In an announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange, New Standard said it expected the rig would spud the first well in a drilling programme over EP456 by mid-July, in line with earlier predictions.

The rig was capable of drilling to a total depth of about 4300 metres, New Standard said, with the Nicolay 1 well expected to reach a total depth of 3200 metres.

ConocoPhillips and New Standard had agreed on locations for the drilling of three wells, the other two being the Gibb Maitland -1 and Blatchford -1 wells, earlier this year.
