Asco to operate Tromso base

Asco: The company has started logistics operations at existing Tromso Port facilities.

UK oil and gas logistics company Asco will operate a purpose built supply base and harbour area to be built by the Tromso Port Authority as part of a Nkr 300 million ($49 million) development plan.

The Port Authority hopes the new Tromso base, comprising 80,000 square metres of industrial space and two deep water quaysides in excess of 200 metreswill be a focal point for servicing rigs at work in the North Norwegian Sea.

Due to be operational from mid 2013, work to build the supply base facility has started on a brownfield site just south of Hammerfest, Asco said in an announcement.
