AF Group rehires DeepOcean for B-11 removal

Removal return: AF Group and DeepOcean to work together again on Norpipe platform's decommissioning

AF Group recently scooped an $83.38 million, four-year deal for the decommissioning of the German North Sea platform under an option secured in last year’s contract for similar works at the H-7 platform.

It hired DeepOcean to remove and recycle H-7 and has now rehired the company under another contract option.

DeepOcean’s work covers planning, engineering and execution of subsea removal work on the jacket substructure as well as preparatory inspections and seabed intervention work offshore.

The work will start immediately and will be completed within end of 2016.

DeepOcean president Mads Bardsen said the decommissioning contract was the third win of its kind including H-7 and last year’s Statfjord contract.

Both H-7 and B-11, dating from the 1970s, were part of the Norpipe pipeline which exports gas to Europe.
