Americas Petrogas spuds Vaca Muerta probe

Argentina probe: Americas Petrogas Vaca Muerta formation

Americas Petrogas has spudded an exploration probe targeting the Vaca Muerta shale formation at its operated Totoral block in Argentina’s Neuquen basin.

The Toronto-listed junior said it would drill the La Hoya X1 well to a total depth of around 2000 metres, with secondary targets including the Pre-Cuyo, Mulichinco, Quintuco and Quebrada del Sapo formations.

Americas Petrogas holds a 90% working interest at the 1188-square kilometre block in the southern region of the Neuquen Basin, with Gas y Petroleo del Neuquen holding the remaining 10% interest.

The explorer also holds a stake in Apache Corporation’s closely-watched Hua X1 well, which is currently on a 90-day production test after uncovering a 360-foot shale zone.
