Seventh heaven: US driller Ensco to receive seventh newbuild from Keppel Fels

Keppel Fels has said it is ready to dispatch its seventh ultra-deepwater semi-submersible rig to US drilling contractor Ensco to explore the Gulf for Anadarko Petroleum.

The Singaporean company held a naming ceremony for the Ensco 8506 on Friday, and have said the rig will now delivered in time for its original target of the first half of the year.

Ensco agreed in August 2008 to pay $560 million for the newbuild, which is capable of drilling to depths of up to 35,000 feet in water up to 8500 feet of water, and is designed for development drilling.
