UN urges progress at Sudan talks

Tough talks: Sudan, South Sudan to resume discussions in Ethiopia on complex dispute

The UN Security Council has expressed concern over the lack of progress in the ongoing dispute between Sudan and South Sudan in which oil is a key sticking point.

The two states are due to resume talks in Addis Ababa on Tuesday after negotiations broke off last week, when the parties failed to agree on where to draw a demilitarized buffer zone along their disputed border.

Western diplomats see no quick breakthrough as positions over a long list of disputes seem far apart and with both sides accusing each other of supporting rebels in the other's territory, according to Reuters.
