Petronas reports another fire

A blaze at a terminal in Malaysia has once again thrown local oil giant Petronas Carigali into the spot light for the second time in a fortnight.

The fire broke out at the sire office of subcontractor Se Jong M&E at around 11:00 local time on Tuesday morning, Petronas said.

It was extinguished in about an hour and not injuries were reported.

A police investigation has, however, begun into the incident.

Se Jong is a subcontractor of the EPCC Samsung-Naim joint venture which undertakes mechanical and piping work at the Sabah oil & gas terminal.

The latest incident comes hot on the heels of a serious fire at one of Petronas’ offshore platforms which left five workers injured.
