Exploring the Australian outback: Exoma has spudded the Darr-1 well in ATP 1005P

Australia’s Exoma Energy has spudded the second well of its 2012 exploration programme in the onshore Galilee basin in central Queensland.

The Darr-1 exploration well is being drilled to provide further data for Exoma’s evaluation of the oil and gas resource in the Toolebuc shale.

The company will take core samples from the well which will provide it with information on the distribution of shale properties needed for appraisal of the shale resource identified in the Bessies, Euston and Katherine wells last year.

Darr-1 will also be used to carry out a secondary test of the southern extent of the Permian coal measures in ATP 1005P by quickly rotary drilling to the basement…
