Australia’s Bow Energy has cased and suspended its Donga-4 appraisal well in Queensland's Surat-Bowen basin as a future oil producer.
The company said that wireline tests indicated that the well had hit oil-bearing sandstones over an interval between 1565 metres and 1571 metres.
Bow said that it expects production to start early next year.
The company had said earlier that drill stem tests indicated that the reservoir was not well developed.
Bow holds an 85% operated interest in the Donga-4 well and the ATP 752P block, while Victoria Petroleum holds 15%.
