Barryroe continues to 'exceed expectations'

Good news: Providence said permeabilities in the basal oil bearing sand in the Barryroe oil discovery off Ireland had exceeded expectations

Ireland’s Providence Resource has received further encouragement over its Barryroe oil discovery, in the Celtic Sea, following analysis of sidewall cores from the 48/24-10z appraisal well.

The analysis confirmed average permeability of 600 millidarcy in the oil bearing basal reservoir sands, which Providence said confirmed the high productivity nature of the reservoir interval.

Analysis of cores from the overlying secondary reservoir sands demonstrated permeabilities of up to 100 millidarcy.

However, Providence said the secondary sands were thinly developed at the 48/24-10z well location, adding they thickened “significantly” to the west.
