Probes: Callon drills Wolfcamp B in Permian basin

US player Callon Petroleum has completed its first horizontal well targeting the Wolfcamp B formation in Texas and has added to its holdings in the oil-rich Permian basin.

Callon said it has drilled its wholly owned Neal-321H well in the East Bloxom field in Upton County, Texas, to a total measured depth of 16,101 feet with a 7430-foot lateral.

Fracture stimulation operations are underway and Callon plans to complete the well using 27 frac stages, the company said in a statement.
