Senex spuds Shocking-1

Getting started: Senex has spudded the Shocking-1 exploration well in the Cooper basin

Senex Energy has spudded the Shocking-1 exploration well in PEL 516, in South Australia’s onshore Cooper basin.

The well is targeting a potential 250,000 barrels of recoverable oil from the Murta, McKinlay and Basal Birkhead/Hutton formations.

Permit partner Ambassador Oil & Gas added the Shocking structure was mapped as having an upside recoverable oil potential of more than 500,000 barrels.

If successful, Shocking-1 could be quickly commercialised due to its close proximity to the Senex-operated Vintage oilfield, which lies about 1.8 kilometres south of Shocking-1 and is producing to a stand-alone modular production facility.
