Australia’s Otto Energy expects to spud on 25 December its Koyustu-1 exploration well at the Edirne licence in Turkey.
The well will be drilled to a total depth of 650 metres targeting the Oligocene-Miocene Osmancik sandstones. Drilling time is expected to be about 10 days following which a testing programme may be carried out if wireline logs indicate the presence of gas.
Once the well is completed, the rig will move to flow test the Bati Umur-1 gas discovery well that was drilled in December last year.
Otto added that the joint venture is currently completing the interpretation of the recent seismic survey to select a second prospect for drilling.
Partners at Edirne are Otto (65%), Incremental Petroleum (15%), Merty Energy (10%) and Petraco Energy (10%).
