Statoil takes Solstad AHTS

Tug jobs: Solstad ties up Normand Jarl (pictured) and Normand Ferking with charters

Norway’s Statoil has tied up a contract extension with a Solstad Offshore support vessel for one more year.

The oil major is taking its compatriot’s anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) unit Normand Ferking for a further 12 months, extending its current deal up until September next year.

Statoil also retains two options to extend the contract further by one year each.

Norway’s coastal administration Kystverket has also signed up for one year firm with Solstad’s AHTS Normand Jarl. The charterer once again retains two by one-year options with the firm deal to begin in January.

Solstad did not provide a breakdown of the individual contract values but said together the firm periods are worth Nkr 150 million ($25 million).
