Jumping on new acreage: Total has been awarded a 100% interest in the L22 licence, off Kenya

France’s Total has been awarded a licence covering Block L22 in the Lamu basin, off the coast of Kenya.

Total announced on Wednesday that it had signed a production sharing contract with the Kenyan government for the block, which it will operate with a 100% interest.

It added the first phase of the exploration programme over the licence area would consist of a 3D seismic survey.

The offshore L22 licence covers 10,000 square kilometers off the the Lamu Archipelago in water depths of between 2000 and 3500 meteres.
