Woodside waits on Isobel

By Upstream staff

Woodside Petroleum expects to restart output from the Cossack Pioneer field off Western Australia once Cyclone Isobel passes the area.

Woodside spokesman Peter Kermode said: “We expect to resume production today and we should be back to full production tomorrow.”

The field, which usually produces about 106,000 barrels per day, was shut in as Isobel neared the area.

The company has also shut in production from its Legendre field, which produces about 7166 bpd, a Reuters report said.

Cyclone Isobel was rated as a category one storm, the lowest in a five-point scale and has winds of up to 95 kilometres per hour near its centre.
