ShawCor bags another Ichthys contract

Coating: ShawCor will coat flowlines for Ichthys project

Services company ShawCor said its pipe-coating division, Bredero Shaw, has signed a $100 million deal with McDermott's Australian unit to provide pipeline coatings and related services for the flowlines and tie-in spools of the Ichthys LNG project.

It is the second contract Bredero Shaw has received for Ichthys after bagging a $400 million gig to coat an 889-kilometre subsea gas pipeline earlier this year.

Ichthys is a $34 billion joint venture between operator Inpex and Total. Gas from the Ichthys field, located in the Browse basin about 200 kilometres off Western Australia, will be gathered through risers and flowlines and will undergo preliminary processing at a central offshore facility.

The gas will then be transported to an onshore LNG facility at Blaydin Point, Darwin, Northern Australia.
