New colours: Severn Glocon moves into subsea picture with LB Bentley buy

British valve engineering specialists Severn Glocon Group has acquired compatriot LB Bentley in a push to increase its share of the booming subsea market.

Stroud-based LB Bentley designs and manufactures small bore subsea valves for as well as high-pressure filters and desiccant dryers.

Its key market is in patented valves, including rotary gate valves, for Christmas tree and wellhead applications, with expected total revenues of $34.52 million this year.

Gloucester-headquartered Severn Glocon Group said the friendly acquisition would see it acquire LB Bentley’s intellectual property rights and its 60,000-square foot facility in Stroud, Gloucestershire.

LB Bentley will operate as a standalone division within Severn Glocon Group, with LB Bentley’s 154 staff and management staying on after the deal.
