Senex cheers Cooper basin double

Cooper basin: Santos and Senex have both had success with recent appraisal wells

Australia’s Senex Energy has had a double success in its appraisal drilling campaigns in the onshore Cooper basin, intersecting oil columns in two wells it is involved in.

Senex said the Cuisinier-6 appraisal well, on the Santos-operated Barta Block in ATP 752P, had intersected a 5.6 metre gross oil column in the sands of the Murta formation with interpreted net oil pay of 3.8 metres.

The well has been cased and suspended and the drilling rig Saxon Rig-184 has been moved to the Cuisinier North-1 location, about 2.9 kilometres north-east of the Cuisinier-1 discovery well, and will target sands in both the Murta formation and the Hutton sandstone.
