UK independent Hardy Oil & Gas said it has taken part in a dry shallow-water exploration well in Block GS-01 off the west coast of India near its existing Dhirubhai-33 discovery.

The GS01-S1 well was drilled by the semi-submersible C Kirk Rhein to a total depth of 3985 metres on the western shelf edge of the block to explore the Oligocene reefal carbonate and Eocene platform carbonate build-up, Hardy said.

There was porosity development in the reefal carbonates, but no hydrocarbons.

Hardy owns a 10% interest in Block GS-01 with India's Reliance Industries owning a 90% operating stake.

The pair are also drilling the GS01-M1 exploration well in the same block with the semisub Actinia. This is the fourth exploration well in GS-01.
