Petrobras dishes out FLNG FEEDs

And they're off: three Petrobras has awarded three FLNG FEEDs

Brazilian giant Petrobras and partners BG Group, Repsol and Galp Energia, are pushing ahead with plans for the first floating liquefied natural gas development in Brazil's pre-salt play, handing out three front-end engineering and design jobs.

Italy's Saipem, a consortium of SBM and Chiyoda, and a separate consortium of Technip, JGC and Modec will get to work on the FEEDs.

Petrobras said the three will have until December next year to work on their studies, adding the pre-salt partners intend to make a final investment decision by March 2011.

Once that decision is made, a fresh tender for the construction and operation of the FLNG unit will be held.

The Brazilian state-run player has set a July 2015 start date for the development.
