Otto happy with Koyustu results

By Upstream staff

Australia's Otto Energy has decided to forgo testing of a shallower interval at its Koyustu-1 well in the Thrace basin’s Edirne licence, Turkey.

The company said that the flow of gas from the deepest gas bearing interval and clear log interpretation of the remaining two zones made it more attractive to postpone the opening of the interval until it was required during the production life of the well.

Otto added that it had hit about 17.5 metres of net gas pay at Koyustu-1, up from pre-drill estimates of about 10 metres.

The well had flowed 2 million cubic feet of gas per day from the deeper of two main intervals in well.

The rig will now move to Bati Umur-1, which was drilled in 2005, for flow testing of that well.

Partners in the Edirne licence are Otto (65%), Incremental Petroleum (15%), Merty Energy (10%) and Petraco Energy (10%).
