FTS plans Brazilian expansion

Goal: FTS says its Petra joint venture will give it access to the Brazilian market.

Brazilian explorer Petra Energia will join forces with Texan well stimulation services company FTS International to create a new company focusing on the South American giant.

The new joint venture, FTS Brasil, will provide well completion products and services for onshore conventional and unconventional oil and gas wells in Brazil.

It could also provide other products and services, including mining, production, sourcing and marketing of raw materials and specialised well completion additives and transportation and laboratory services in connection with its well completion services.

Roberto Viana Batista, the chairman of Petra, a private company which is Brazil’s largest onshore concession holder, said the move was part of a company goal to adapt new technologies for use in Brazil.
