On trial: Demonstrators to face charges over November 2011 protest, above

Protestors who staged a demonstration at a Cuadrilla Resources drilling rig in Lanchashire, northwest England last November have gone on trial over the protest.

Preston Magistrates Court began hearings on Tuesday in the case, which is expected to last four days.

Three protestors are being charged with aggravated trespass over the demonstration, which was led by anti-hydraulic fracturing campaign group Frack Off.

Work at the Banks rig site was halted for a day on 2 November 2011 over the demonstration, in which some of those present scaled the rig to unfurl a banner.
