Green light: the EPA has recommended the Browse LNG precinct for 'strict conditional approval'

A report on the proposed Browse liquefied natural gas precinct in Western Australia’s Kimberley region has recommended the project be conditionally approved.

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) announced on Monday it had recommended the gas hub for “strict conditional approval “.

EPA chairman Paul Vogel said the assessment was the largest and most multi-faceted ever conducted in the EPA’s 40 year history.

“The assessment has been incredibly thorough and included wide consultation with community members and scientific experts, site visit and meetings with interest groups,” he said.

“After carefully considering each environmental factor, I have recommended a rigorous set of 29 conditions and offsets to ensure the EPA’s environment objectives are met.”
