Port buy: Asco acquires Scrabster Port Services in west of Shetland push

UK logistics outfit Asco has acquired Scotland’s Scrabster Port Services in a drive to hone in on the expanding west of Shetlands services market.

Aberdeen-based Asco said it has bought the remaining 50% of the port company, of which it has owned half since 2009, for an undisclosed sum.

“Scrabster will be a key logistics hub as the substantial West of Shetland fields come on stream in the coming years,” commented Asco’s chief executive for Europe Andrew Macdonald.

“It offers established quayside services and a fast, direct shipping route to offshore fields from the UK mainland,” he said.
