ERHC set to explore Chad blocks

Award: ERHC gets exploration nod from Chadian government

US independent ERHC Energy has won exclusive rights to explore for oil and gas on three blocks in the sub-Sahara African nation of Chad.

The Chadian government awarded ERHC production sharing contracts for the Chari-Ouest III, BDS 2008 and Manga blocks, according to a statement released by the company on Wednesday.

ERHC has the option to renew the five-year exploration agreement for an additional three years.

"With the issuance of the (exploration license), ERHC can now commence its Chad exploration work programme in earnest," said ERHC chief executive Peter Ntephe.

"ERHC's goal is to advance quickly towards the identification of leads and prospects and thereafter to drill as quickly as the circumstances permit."
