GE picks up more Gorgon work

Gorgon work: GE has been awarded a $600 million service agreement on the LNG project currently being built in Western Australia

GE Oil & Gas has been awarded a $600 million service agreement to maintain the compressor trains and associated equipment at Chevron’s Gorgon liquefied natural gas project in Western Australia.

Under the 22-year agreement, GE said it would provide Chevron with scheduled maintenance, monitoring and diagnostics of the installed equipment and access to local engineers, plus an inbuilt guarantee relating to continuity of production.

It will also manage inventory and supply initial spare components under the agreement.

GE has already been awarded a number of contracts on the LNG project which will see it provide compressors to compress the gas and sequester carbon dioxide released during its production.
