Rebel attack: FARC have been blamed for blowing up a section of the Cano Limon-Covenas pipeline

Colombia's largest rebel group has blown up a section of the 220,000-barrel per day Cano Limon-Covenas oil pipeline.

Guerrillas in Latin America's fourth-largest oil producer have stepped up bombings this year, especially against the 780-kilometre Cano Limon-Covenas line, which usually only operates a third of its capacity, pumping about 80,000 bpd, Reuters reported.

There were 67 attacks on pipelines in the first half of the year, more than three times the number in the same period last year, according to Defense Ministry data.
