Positive results at Mahalo-3

Brisbane-based Comet Ridge has reported “very positive” well results from its Mahalo-3 coalbed methane well on ATP 337P, in Queensland’s Bowen basin.

The well was drilled to a total depth of 300 metres targeting the Bandanna formation and intersected eight metres of net coal, including seven metres in the main Castor-Pollux coalbed.

Comet said analysis of flow testing carried out over the coalbed showed the Castor-Pollux to have sufficient permeability to enable the well to be used for pilot production.
