UK oilfield services specialists Expro has won a $12 million equipment and services contract from Xcite Energy for the explorer’s 90-day extended well test at the Bentley heavy oil field.

Expro will provide heavy oil well testing and data management services through drilling and completions company ADTI on the Rowan Norway jack-up rig.

Expro testing and production chief Gary Belcher said the contract showed the company’s attractiveness as an experienced full-cycle service provider, adding that the test itself would garner key data for Xcite Energy on the play’s potential.

“This early production or extended well test provides further data to accurately model the potential of their reservoir whilst delivering early cashflow and allowing optimisation of any permanent facility designs,” Belcher said.
