Ecopetrol in Colombia heavy oil strike

Ecopetrol has made another heavy oil discovery at an exploration well on the Cano Sur licence in Colombia.

The Colombian explorer found the presence of hydrocarbons at the Embrujo-1 ST2 horizontal well on the eastern block of the licence, it said on Monday.

The well was drilled to 1560 metres and results indicate that the well has stabilised at an average production rate of 434 barrels of oil per day.

This is the seventh oil discovery that Ecopetrol has made at Cano Sur in the municipality of Puerto Gaitan in Meta department.
