Technip charters North Sea newbuild

Newbuild: an artists impression of the vessel Technip has agreed to charter from North Sea Shipping

French engineering company Technip has signed a long-term charter agreement for a newbuild offshore construction vessel with Norway’s North Sea Shipping.

Technip will charter the vessel for a five or seven year commitment with a five-year extension option and the agreement also carries the option for it to purchase the vessel.

The subsea construction vessel is 142 metres and a width of 27 metres, and will be equipped with a 400 tonne crane and 2000 tonne carousel for storage of flexible pipe below deck.

While the vessel will predominately be used for operations in the North Sea, Technip said it would also be suitable for deep-water operations elsewhere in the world.
