Dragon output up on last year

Dzheitune: Dragon Oil plans to bring 16 wells into production in the Dzheitune (Lam) field off Turkmenistan by the end of the year

UK-listed Dragon Oil has reported its average gross field production rate sitting at 64,200 barrels of oil per day for the six months ended 30 June 2012 – a 10.7% increase on last year.

In its trading statement for the first half of 2012, the company has also updated its target to put 16 (instead of 13) development wells into production by the end of the year.

Since the start of the year, Dragon has completed 12 wells, including two sidetracks, in the Dzheitune (Lam) field in the Caspian Sea, off Turkmenistan.

It said the additional wells would be drilled and completed by the leased platform-based rig and the new build Caspian Driller jack-up rig, which was expected to be delivered towards the end of the year.
