Australian spud: Exoma has started drilling the Katherine West-1 well in the Galilee basin

Exoma Energy has spudded the Katherine West-1 well in ATP 999P in the onshore Galilee basin, Queensland.

The well is being drilled to a total depth of 1884 metres to core and test the Adori and Hutton oil reservoirs discovered last year in Katherine-1, about 100 metres away.

Exoma said Katherine West-1 would provide a definitive test of an indicated resource of up to 60 million barrels oil in place, with the Hutton sandstone believed to hold a best estimate of 13.7 million barrels while the Adori sandstone is thought to hold a best estimate of 46 million barrles.
