PetroQuest, Stone hit again at La Cantera

PetroQuest said a second deep gas well at its La Cantera prospect in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana had made a gas discovery.

The Lafayette-based company said the Broussard Estates-2 well had drilled to 19,150 feet and came across about 310 feet of net pay in the Cris R Massive objective.

PetroQuest said the well also logged another 200 gross feet of potential pay zones above and below the discovery.

The company expects first production in mid-September.

"Our second well at our La Cantera prospect has exceeded our expectations and with potential new pay sands discovered, we have likely created additional drilling opportunities for 2013 and beyond," chief executive Charles Goodson said.
