Snohvit back in production

Back on track: Snohvit LNG exports up and running after near month-long stoppage

Statoil has confirmed that its liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant at Snohvit, which was shut in last month for unplanned maintenance, resumed production earlier this week.

The ingression of water into the natural gas dryers  led to the shutdown on 10 July at the Hammerfest LNG plant at Melkoya.

The Norwegian state player confirmed reports from earlier this week that the plant had started up output again, adding that it was still “gradually being returned to full production”.

Statoil’s share of production from Snohvit comprises roughly 50,000 barrels of oil equivalents per day.

The first LNG export facility in the Arctic and in Europe, Hammerfest LNG cools natural gas sent ashore from Snohvit.
